Covid-19 has meant complete and drastic rethink for many people and businesses.
Same here...
After complete lockdown, social distancing and new measures yet to come, I have decided to change the way I was running my French Matters.
All tuition - private and corporate - has now been suspended.
Many thanks to all those who took advantage of this service over the years; it has been a great privilege to help you further your knowledge and become more fluent and competent in your language skills.
I have also decided to stop providing translation services. No more working through the nights...
I have decided to refocus on my historical idea to offer conversation groups.
But this is evolving too:
As well as still offering my local groups a chance to meet weekly (online for now) I am aiming to set up online weekly groups for a nationwide audience!
How exciting...
I have trialed a number of platforms and am happy to proceed with "Jitsi". It offers a very simple way to connect on multiple operating systems with a limited number of people - perfect for a chitchat group!
I am now advertising nationally to get people from all 4 corners of these islands to meet from the comfort of their home with like-minded people for some regular fun in French.
Sorry, I won't be able to offer coffee and croissants!
Costs will be kept low and payments by bank transfer mean there will be no need to physically meet...
Ideally a group would consist of 12-15 people, including Brenda from Brighton, Norman from Norwich and Lee from Leeds. Maybe we'll have to limit our references to football!...
Let me know your interest in these groups - wherever you live - so we can organise our next get together.
